Where it works best

Farm and yard entrances, barns, stables, workshops, static caravans, holiday lets and remote buildings, anywhere with usable 4G coverage and a sunny spot for the solar panel. Solar charging depends on sunlight, panel position and how often the camera is triggered. Expect shorter run times in mid-winter.

Installation guide

DIY difficulty: Easy (2 out of 5)  |  Typical time: 30–45 minutes  |  Tools: drill, masonry or wood bit, screwdriver

  1. Charge and prepare. Fully charge the camera indoors using the USB-C cable. Insert an activated data SIM, with any PIN lock removed, and a microSD card if you want local recording.
  2. Check signal first. Stand at the planned spot with a phone on the same network as your SIM and check that you have a reliable 4G signal.
  3. Pair before you mount. Download the app, create an account and add the camera while it is in your hand. Confirm that live view works before going up a ladder.
  4. Choose the position. Mount the camera around 2.5–3m high, looking over the gate, entrance or yard you want to watch. Avoid pointing it straight at the sun or at a road with constant traffic, which will trigger alerts.
  5. Fit the camera bracket. Mark the holes, drill, insert the wall plugs (not needed for timber) and screw the bracket firmly in place.
  6. Fit the solar panel. Mount it within reach of the 1.8m cable, facing south where possible, angled around 30–45° and clear of shade from trees or roof overhangs.
  7. Connect and seal. Plug the panel cable into the camera, leaving a small downward loop so that rainwater drips off rather than running into the socket.
  8. Set up and test. In the app, adjust the view, set motion detection and notifications, then walk through the area to check that alerts reach your phone.
