A GPS tracker for a tractor or farm machine gives you location awareness beyond the farm gate. Cameras and entrance alarms help detect activity at your property; a tracker stays with the compatible machine and reports its position through an active mobile-connected service. For farms managing tractors, agricultural vehicles or powered equipment across several locations, that can be a useful additional security layer.
Ready to choose?
Our tractor and machinery GPS trackers start at £99 including VAT, plus £7.99/month or £79.99/year tracking per asset. Choose the hardwired TVC107 or the battery-connected TBC212.
What can tractor GPS tracking help with?
- Checking location: review available position records when equipment is on another holding or away from the main yard.
- Noticing unexpected movement: agreed movement-related alerts can draw attention to activity that needs checking.
- Monitoring an agreed boundary: configured geofencing can help highlight a machine moving outside a selected area.
- Planning a response: available location information can help you decide which site or asset needs attention.
These benefits depend on the fitted device, reporting settings, power and reception. Tracking does not physically prevent removal, guarantee recovery or provide a continuously staffed monitoring team.
Hardwired or battery-connected tractor tracker?
The Vital TVC107 hardwired tracker is Rural Secure’s standard wired option for compatible tractors and powered machinery. It uses LTE Cat 1 connectivity and supports configured geofencing and vehicle/movement-related alarms, including tow-alarm capability. Its compact housing measures approximately 43.2 × 106 × 13.5mm. The IP54 enclosure needs a suitably protected installation position.
The Vital TBC212 battery-connected tracker draws power from the machine’s battery and offers a simpler battery connection. It measures approximately 93 × 57 × 13.8mm and has an IP67-rated enclosure. It suits compatible equipment with an appropriate permanent battery supply.
Battery-connected does not mean self-powered. A TBC212 is not a long-life autonomous tracker for an unpowered trailer. Tell us if the machine’s battery is often disconnected or the asset remains parked for long periods. Both Vital devices have a 12-month hardware warranty.
How the location reaches your phone
- The fitted device determines position using satellite navigation.
- It sends records using its active SIM and the mobile network.
- You access available locations and agreed alerts through the Rural Secure app or portal.
GPS reception and mobile reporting are separate parts of the process. A metal enclosure, obstructed mounting position or poor mobile coverage can affect the result. No universal instant-update interval is promised: we agree reporting settings with you during activation.
Hardware, service and installation costs
The Vital TVC107 and TBC212 hardware each cost £99 including VAT. Tracking is separate at £7.99 per active asset per month or £79.99 for 12 months paid upfront. Initial account setup and basic onboarding are included in the hardware price; professional installation is quoted separately. Monthly service can be cancelled at the end of a billing month; annual payment buys a year of service.
The agreed service includes Rural Secure app/portal access, core SIM/data connectivity, location reporting, configured geofencing and movement alerts, and basic support. Reporting frequency, supported notifications and history retention are confirmed during setup. Hardware is supplied to order and service activation is arranged with us.
Installing a tracker on agricultural equipment
Confirm the make, model, electrical supply and required alerts first. A competent installer should follow the supplied manual, protect the wiring from heat and moving parts, and mount the tracker where it can work reliably. The TVC107 is a professional-fitting recommendation; the TBC212 still needs a competent battery connection.
Commissioning should include a position-report check and tests of the agreed geofence and movement notifications. Do not use an illustrative product picture as an electrical installation instruction.
Use tracking alongside farm security
Keep physical locks and sensible key control in place. Farm entrance alarms can warn of arrival, and 4G cameras can provide event footage. Tracking operates separately unless integration is specifically confirmed.
Will a tractor tracker work without farm Wi-Fi?
It uses its active mobile connection rather than relying on farm Wi-Fi. Adequate satellite reception, mobile coverage, power and an active service are still required.
Is it an insurer-approved recovery service?
The standard Rural Secure service does not include S5/S7 certification or a professionally monitored recovery team. Check any insurer’s requirement before choosing equipment.

Ask Rural Secure about your tracking setup
Tell us the asset make and model, how it is powered, how often it is used and where it is stored. We will confirm compatibility, service requirements and installation before you commit. Request a tracking recommendation or call 01492 244100.
